Prices Are Jumping In Utah

'The Salt Lake Board of Realtors® is pleased to inform you of this year’s Q1 official housing statistics. As a broker, this data is exclusively shared with you first. Please feel free to use this information in your sales meetings and when talking with your clients.

Home prices climbed in the first three months of 2013, marking 12 consecutive months of rising prices. The median single-family home price in Salt Lake County in the January through March period increased to $228,750, up 19 percent compared to $192,500 in the first quarter of 2012. Since April 2012, home prices in the Salt Lake area have increased every month (year-over-year). A complete list of ZIP code housing data can be found at this link.

Neighboring Davis County saw its median home price climb 12 percent. Utah and Weber counties also experienced double-digit gains. The exception was Tooele County, where home prices were flat (up 0.32 percent). The most expensive homes sold in the first quarter were in Alpine (84004) at a median price of $404,600.

The number of single-family homes sold by Realtors® in Salt Lake County in the first quarter was flat at 2,190 units, down less than 1 percent compared to 2,197 units sold in the first quarter of 2012.

Across the Wasatch Front, more people purchased single-family homes (173) in the Clearfield area of Davis County (ZIP code 84015) in the first quarter than any other ZIP code along the Wasatch Front. South Jordan (84095) ranked No. 2 in the most single-family homes sold at 160 sales. Lehi (84043) ranked No. 3 at 154 sales.

Condominium sales in the Salt Lake area also showed gains, rising to 526 sales in the first quarter, up 18 percent compared to 447 sales (year-over-year). The median condominium price increased to $155,000, up 9 percent compared to $142,000 a year ago.'
