I am pleased to announce the governor has launched a second round of housing grants this morning.
Governor Herbert's office launched the $8,000,000 Home Run 2 program.
Following the recommendations that the Housing Advisory Council submitted to
him last month, the $4,000 grants will be available to purchasers of new
construction homes, to help conserve and create jobs in the construction
sector.

Utah Housing Corporation will again administer the program, and details may

The Council had also submitted recommendations for the development of a
program to use the $8,000 federal first time home buyer tax credit as a down
payment. Utah Housing Corporation announced its Equity Now program this
morning, offering first and second mortgages to first time home buyers.
Equity Now enables home buyers to obtain cash at closing, then subsequently
filing an amended return with the IRS, repaying the second mortgage and
having $8,000 equity, right now. Equity Now details may also be found at
UHC's website at the same link noted above.
